Sending Smiles Across the Miles

There are so many fun options and color combinations to use with the Lift Me Up Bundle.  This is one of my favorite color combos – Watermelon Wonder paired with Smoky Slate and Basic Black.   When adding Basic Black as an accent color, it tends to make the other colors pop.

~Dying Your Own Ribbon to create a custom color~

I wanted to match the ribbon to the watermelon wonder paper, so I dyed the white grosgrain from the Sending Love Ribbon combo pack, using a few drops of watermelon wonder refill ink and a few spritzes of water or rubbing alcohol.  I put a few drops of the reinker into an empty stamp case, spritzed several sprays of rubbing alcohol to make a bit of a puddle, shake it gently to mix the color well.  Place a cut length of white ribbon in the case to allow it to absorb the color.  I tend to color enough for 3 or 4 cards at a time in order to have a little more control over the color, however, you can color a longer length – you’ll just need to make a bit more of the “dye”.  Once the ribbon has absorbed the color lay it over some paper towels to dry.   I keep a mini flat iron on hand to run the ribbon through to help it dry a bit more quickly as well as iron out any wrinkles.   It’s always better to start lighter, and repeat the process if you desire a darker color.  It’s easy to add more color…. nearly impossible to lighten it.  (Although it is possible by adding water to dilute the color if you work quickly)

Thank-you so much for stopping by!

Have a Joy-Filled Day!

Vertical Garden Stamp Set by Stampin’ Up!

Hello Friend —

Just dropping in to say Hello.  Here’s a cute and simple card when you just want to send a quick note to let someone know you’re thinking of them.  I love the simplicity of the font chosen for this “Hello” stamp – it makes such a nice little greeting to send to a friend…..   The shadowed stamped image gives it a fun 3 dimensional look.  I borrowed the “friend” stamp from the Awesomely Artistic stamp set, (another favorite!)  Adding a bit of splattering to the project tends to be a great finishing touch to any project.  You can to this by dipping a small paint brush in a small puddle of basic gray ink and tap it against a marker, or pencil.  I would suggest you practice a bit to get a good feel for how to get the desired look.  Also, be careful to keep your project in somewhat of a contained area.  Splatters are known to stray a bit!

This stamp set is designed to coordinate with the Vertical Garden Project Kit – a super cute home decor piece.  A garden of flowers placed in a sweet little frame and hung by beautiful ribbon.  Included in the kit is a banner for you to stamp your greeting. The Vertical Garden stamp set is sold separately.  It offers a 2-step stamping technique to add a shadow to the words Welcome and Hello which gives the image a great 3-D effect.   I love the versatility of being able to use these images for more than just the home decor piece – they work great for your cards as well!

Beautiful You by Stampin’ Up!

The Occasions Catalog 2017 is here!  Such a sweet stamp set with some great sentiments.

The Beautiful You stamp set is available in the Occasions catalog beginning January 4th through May 31st, 2017. I was playing around with some of my new stamps in the catalog and just fell in love with the simplicity of this set.

I stamped the image with Early Espresso ink on Vanilla Cardstock.  To add color to the image just pick up a touch of the Sweet sugarplum ink from the lid of the ink pad using a Blender pen and do a few scribbles.  I love this coloring style, really no ‘coloring talent’ needed!
